FAQ's
A bunded heating oil tank simply consists of a tank within a tank. Heating oil is stored in the inner tank and the outer tank acts as a fail safe so that in the event of a spillage, excess fuel will collect in the outer tank.
For commercial situations, all storage tanks over 200 litres in capacity need to have secondary containment or be bunded. However, not all domestic oil tanks need to be bunded. When an OFTEC technician quotes for replacing/installing your tank, they carry out an OFTEC TI/133D risk assessment to determine if you are legally required to have a bunded tank fitted.
